Inspection

Some destination countries require a vehicle to pass a pre-shipment inspection in Japan before it is shipped. Requirements differ by country and can change.

Where an inspection is required for your destination, Yamato Cars arranges it as part of export preparation and confirms it in your quotation. Inspections are carried out by the inspection body that applies to your destination; Yamato Cars does not issue these certificates itself.

If a vehicle cannot meet the rules for your destination, we tell you before you commit.

Shipping methods

RoRo (roll-on/roll-off) — the vehicle is driven onto a specialist car carrier. Common for standard vehicles.

Container — the vehicle is secured inside a shipping container. Sometimes used for higher-value vehicles or certain routes.

The method, port of discharge and any onward transit for landlocked countries are agreed in your quotation.

Documents

For a typical export you can expect:

  • Export certificate (the vehicle’s Japanese deregistration document)
  • Bill of lading from the shipping line
  • Commercial invoice
  • Inspection certificate, where your destination requires one

We confirm the documents for your shipment and how they will be sent to you or your clearing agent.

Timing

How long shipping takes depends on vessel schedules, the route, port conditions and any inspection. We do not guarantee arrival dates.

We share the expected schedule once the vehicle is booked and update you if it changes.
